Ultrasound reassurance scans may be done to monitor pregnancy in mothers with any medical condition that may have adverse effects on the unborn baby i.e. hypertension, diabetes, blood disorders or any other medical problem in pregnancy.  Anxiety, past history of pregnancy loss or pregnancy resulted from assisted conception & in vetro- fertilization (IVF), is all reasons for regular reassurance ultrasound scans at any stage in your pregnancy.  This scan assesses growth of your baby. It involves measurement of the baby’s head, abdominal circumference, femur length, fetal activity, and fetal Doppler as well as the amniotic fluid. Fetal sexing is optional. It provides an estimate of fetal weight and is for reassurance. This scan is performed between 24-34 weeks.
